SLA Runners - UPDATE

Al Gore mentioned the African saying: "If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together."

I don't want to go too far, too quickly, or alone. But I am definitely interested in going together.

So I am posting to query the interest in other SLA members in meeting up to go out for a run.

If there is interest, we could find a time & place to meet up.

What Info Pros Can Learn From Bodybuilders

Or What You Missed If You Just Arrived

The photos above were taken at the convention center. But no, as mentioned earlier, the bodybuilding pros aren't attending our conference. It may, however, be useful to think about what we can learn from their Expo. Giveaways, raffles, and stamp collecting are fine, but how about something that will make info pros sweat a little more?

Maybe in the future we can have equivalents of the arm wrestling and Strongman competitions, not to mention the pro wrestling exhibition. Now that the Ultimate Fighting Championship is giving boxing a run for its money, how about having librarians engage in some rare book wrestling? Or competing to see who can lift the heaviest bag of conference goodies? There may even be some room for a pro cataloging exhibition. And if these take off, maybe the public will be ready for an Ultimate Finding Championship.

More for baseball fans

I just read in the Rocky Mountain News that the Denver Art Museum will open a summer exhibit of photographs of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig on June 2nd, just in time for the conference. 

I can't find any other informaiton on the DAM website, so I'm not sure which gallery or building the exhibit will be in.
