A rare convergence of several areas of expertise, accomplishments, and experience levels will be put on display at the SLA 2012 Annual Conference & INFO-EXPO!
Don’t miss the 2012 SLA Rising Stars and Fellows Roundtable in Chicago, at 10 a.m. on July 16th.
Moderated by Webb Shaw of J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc., this popular session will feature the newest SLA Rising Stars, each paired with one of the five newest Fellows of the Association. Mark your conference planner to attend!
More About the Roundtable Session:
This year, we will focus on how technology has (and has not) changed the information profession. Each Rising Star and Fellow-pair will discuss a specific topic and how it has (or has not) been affected by technology. Each speaker will draw upon their own unique perspectives for an engaging examination of their topic.
The Topics:
To get things started, Ruth Kneale (Fellow) and Chris Zammarelli (Star) will take a fascinating look at the implications of culture on Search and Content Expertise.
Next, Scott Brown (Fellow) and Davis Erin Anderson (Star) will cover Engagement with Customers and Users. The pair will address managing customer and stakeholder expectations, communicating with those groups, and defining needs of user groups.
The third and fourth pairs will turn their focus to the big picture.
Ann Cullen (Fellow) and Lisa Chow (Star) will discuss Leadership and Change Management, touching on the importance of considering the organization’s mission and its people to avoid tech rollout failure.
Then, Chris Olson (Fellow) and Janel Kinlaw (Star) will discuss Organizational Strategy and reveal an ironic juxtaposition within their topic.
Finally, the role of technology as it relates to Giving Back and Volunteering will be uncovered. Roberto Sarmiento (Fellow) and Moy McIntosh (Star) will share their deep experience of giving and how communications technology has affected the way they provide service.
See You in Chicago...!
The session will be interactive via audience Q & A, so feel free to prepare questions to ask our panelists.
2012 marks J. J. Keller’s third consecutive year of its partnership with SLA to honor up-and-coming info pros. See pictures from last year’s Roundtable here.
And, be sure to see the 2012 Rising Stars honored at the SLA 2012 Annual Conference on Sunday, July 15th, starting at 5:15 pm.

Unfortunately the first link is dead, though I wanted to have a better idea of that conference. I've already missed that conference, but it would be great to know it more.
