A big "thank you!" goes out to everyone who took the time to submit entries for the Express Your Value contest last month. Earlier today, the Public Relations Advisory Council (PRAC) met to judge the entries, and the winner is....Ruth Kneale!
Ruth Kneale was awarded the first-place prize of an Amazon Kindle for her video's engaging style and pertinent content. She expresses not only her own value, but the value of all information professionals when she says, "We can help you organize your stuff, analyze your stuff, categorize your stuff, get it up, get it out to the world, get it on your desk, get it where you need it, when you need it. Check us out." Well said, Ruth!
Emily Poworoznek's PowerPoint entry was highly creative and consisted of a one-slide presentation displaying a Wordle. The Wordle compiled language from an array of e-mails from her inbox. The fact that the most frequent (and thus the largest) phrase was "Thank You" won't be met with much surprise from SLA members, but it drives the point home nonetheless--people depend on information professionals everyday and in many ways. Emily's entry was named a very close runner-up.
While the above-mentioned entries were named first and second, all the entries were merit-worthy and we truly enjoyed the process of judging them. In case you haven't already, be sure to view all the entries and continue expressing that value in your workplace!
