Richard Huffine - Candidate for Division Cabinet Chair-Elect - Question #1 Imagine you have just finished your term on the SLA Board of Directors, what did you accomplish?

During my tenure on the SLA Board as Division Cabinet Chair, I have seen our Association continue to grow and play an increasingly vital role in the lives of SLA members.

I have worked to craft a coalition among SLA Divisions to increase the relevance of Divisions outside of the Annual Conference. We have investigated Division-focused learning opportunities using the Click University platform and we have identified ways that Divisions could collaborate to address challenges facing our members.

I have participated in raising the issues facing Divisions to the SLA Board and to our Association leadership. I have encouraged Divisions to take a hard look at their viability and their operating models. 

I have provided support to all Divisions, whether they are new and growing, established but struggling, or anywhere in between. We haven’t solved all of the problems facing our organization but we have had a healthy dialogue and we’ve set a positive and hopeful tone.
