Why don't you announce the election vote count that resulted in the winners?

Cara Schatz

Hi Lynn,

Thanks for your question. SLA does not announce the vote numbers because we use an outside vendor to conduct our elections. When the election closes, we are informed about the results (who won) and how many people voted overall.

When the polls close, the winner is the winner, whether the margin is one vote or one thousand, and needs to be able to do the job with the full confidence of the membership.

We feel that releasing vote counts would be disrespectful to both candidates and could potentially damage reputations and create ill-will for our elected leaders and volunteers.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you would like to discuss this further.
